MQA Framework of 10 Initiatives for National Higher Education Leap

 

The Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) outlines 10 initiatives to drive excellence in the country's higher education.Its Chief Executive Officer, Prof Datuk Mohammad Shatar Sabran said, the initiatives involved were worked on to realize MQA's agenda to emerge as a leader among quality assurance bodies.
 
He said, among the initiatives in question is that MQA plays a role as a facilitator for all higher education institutions (HEIs) regardless of public or private by intensifying cooperation to improve the quality of education together.
 
"MQA is also committed to responding to the digitization agenda announced by the government and the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT), especially in relation to the work of processing assessment and document delivery.
 
"In order to strengthen the internal quality assurance of local HEIs, MQA will increase the number of graduates of the Certified Officer in Quality Assurance of Higher Education programme through the programme offered," he said.

He said this when delivering the MQA Chief Executive Officer's New Year Message 2023 with the title ``Global Quality Higher Education'' at Mercu MQA, today.

Also present, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Quality Assurance) MQA, Prof Ir Khairul Salleh Mohamed Sahari; Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Management) MQA Halinordina Mat Saat; MQA Senior Director of Policy Development and Expertise, Mohamad Dzafir Mustafa; Senior Director (Accreditation), Mohd Khairul Nizam Ibrahim and MQA Council Member.
 
In an effort to strengthen the internationalization agenda, Mohammad Shatar said, MQA will open a new network starting this year with quality assurance bodies in Africa, Central Asia, South America, India, China and West Asia.
 
He said, his party plans to make 'Malaysian Week' successful abroad in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education (JPT), other agencies under the Ministry of Education and Culture and local HEIs to promote Malaysian higher education.
 
"We want to make MQA a global quality assurance reference by highlighting Malaysia's good quality reputation of higher education.
 
"This effort is also in line with the desire of the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin to make Malaysia a talent and knowledge hub or a center for universal knowledge," he said.
