The Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is calling on all engineering graduates to register as graduate engineers as an important step towards a recognised professional career. LJM in a statement today announced that registration under the Engineers Registration Act 1967 allows graduates to use the title Grad.Eng. after their last name as official recognition of their academic qualifications as well as increasing credibility in the industry. As a signatory country to the Washington Accord, Malaysia ensures that engineering programs meet international standards, thus strengthening the marketability of graduates on a global level.

Graduates with degrees recognised by the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC-BEM) or professional bodies under the Washington Accord are eligible to apply while alternative routes such as the top-up programme and the BEM Graduate Assessment Programme (BEM-GAP) are available for qualifications that are not recognised.. Registration applications are open to Malaysian citizens and non-citizens and can be made online through the MyBEM system by submitting complete supporting documents including academic certificates, official transcripts and identification documents certified by an LJM-accredited Professional Engineer. |
The processing period is approximately six weeks for recognized qualifications and up to four months for special assessment cases subject to the completeness of the documents submitted. LJM hopes that all graduates take proactive steps to register as graduate engineers as an initial path towards registration as professional engineers, thereby contributing to national development. |
