27th September 2024, Serdang- This year’s Independence Day celebration at the Centre for Quality Assurance (CQA) was filled with excitement and patriotic spirit, throughout the month of August until 16th September 2024. Various creative and meaningful activities were organized, such as ‘Program Kibar Jalur Gemilang’ competition with the concept ‘Independence Memoir Tunnel’ by PKKSSAAS, UPM, CQA Family Colouring Activity, CQA Family Merdeka Activities, Historical Topics Sharing at Read@CQA, and many others. ‘Kibar Jalur Gemilang’ programme with concept ‘Independence Memoir Tunnel’ invites CQA members to reflect on the country’s struggle for independence through a highly inspiring historical exhibition. This is a journey through time, showcasing significant moments in the country’s independence history. Through this interactive exhibition, CQA members had the opportunity to learn more about independence figures and witness displays of historic events that shaped the freedom we enjoy today. The tunnel was creatively decorated by staff using used materials as a symbol of the spirit of recycling and sustainability.  In line with efforts to promote sustainability, this year’s celebration encouraged the use of recycled materials to decorate the CQA’s office. From flags to replicas of historical buildings, everything was made from recycled materials, demonstrating that creativity knows no bounds when combined with environmental awareness. Among the independence replicas created using recycled materials were the Malaysian Flag made from egg cartons and a replica of the 118 Tower using old boxes, along with several other decorations made from recycled items such as used paper, plastic bottles, and more. CQA Family Colouring Activity was one of the most exciting events, where each CQA family member contributed their creativity and innovation through  independence-themed poster colouring activities. This activity not only showcased artistic talents but also strengthened the bonds between CQA members and their families in a spirit of togetherness and love for the motherland in line with this year's theme of 'Jiwa Merdeka'. During the judging session, CQA members also presented a number of performances such as poetry recitations, independence chants, rhythmic poetry singing, pantun reading, and ended with a short video about Malaysia’s national flower, the hibiscus, acted by the Director of CQA, Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Abd. Rahim Abu Talib and his family, along with a montage video of the independence celebration journey by the CQA family, either in the office or at home with their families. With full of enthusiasm, the 2024 CQA Independence Day celebration not only reminded us of the sacrifices of our ancestors in fighting for independence but also emphasized the importance of sustainability values for future generation.
