28 February 2025, Serdang – The Centre for Quality Assurance (CQA) held the 62nd Quality Committee Meeting on 25th February 2025, at the Senate Hall, Level 1, Bangunan Canselori Putra Universiti Putra Malaysia. This was the first meeting of 2025 and is part of the annual activities scheduled in the UPM Service Quality Activity Calendar for 2025.

A total of 58 committee members attended the meeting, including Deputy Management Representatives for the Information Security Management System (ISMS), Deputy Management Representatives for Process Leaders (TWP PP), Deputy Management Representatives for Responsibility Centers (TWP PTJ), University Document Control Officers, University Audit Coordinators, University Customer Satisfaction Coordinators, University Departmental Records Officers, University Staff Training Coordinators, and other representatives. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Abd. Rahim Abu Talib, who serves as the Director of the Centre for Quality Assurance and UPM’s ISO Management Representative.

The UPM Quality Committee plays a role in:
1. Ensuring the suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness of the periodic implementation of the ISO Management System;
2. Evaluating opportunities for improvement and the need for changes to:
     i. Functional and hierarchical action plans.
    ii. ISMS objectives and targets.
3. Approving any proposed document amendments within the scope of ISO Management (QMS & ISMS); and
4. Acknowledging the effectiveness of ISO implementation at the Process Leader and Responsibility Center (PTJ) levels.

The agenda discussed in the meeting included:
1. UPM ISO Documentation Management;
2. UPM ISO Quality Audit Management;
3. UPM ISO Objectives Achievement;
4. University KPI Achievement;
5. Stakeholder Feedback on UPM ISO;
6. UPM ISO Risk Assessment;
7. University Training Management;
8. University Records Management; and
9. Other matters related to UPM quality management.

The meeting also congratulated five (5) new members of the UPM Quality Committee from various PTJs and expressed gratitude to the former committee members for their contributions and commitment to ensuring the excellence and effectiveness of UPM’s service quality.

Additionally, all members provided positive feedback on the follow-up actions taken by PTJs to ensure effectiveness and preparation for the ISO Internal Audit, which includes the Internal Audit for QMS, ISMS, and the First-Level Assessment of the Workplace Environmental Practices (EKSA).

The committee also noted the transition to the new MS ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standard, with the ISMS Working Committee conducting several workshops to update documentation and ISMS risk assessment instruments.
