28th July 28 2025, Serdang – The Centre for Quality Assurance (CQA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), demonstrated strong commitment as part of Gabungan 8 (G8) during the UPM Staff Sports Tournament (SUSTAF) 2025, which was held from June 30 to July 27, 2025, at various UPM venues and the UPM Sports Academy. Thanks to the dedication and collaboration of all 15 entities, G8 successfully secured third place overall in SUSTAF 2025, further uplifting the spirit of unity and pride among its members. According to Prof. Ir. Dr. Abd. Rahim Abu Talib, Director of CQA, involvement in SUSTAF was not solely about competing in sports, but also about strengthening bonds among staff members. “This platform is truly meaningful as it nurtures unity, enhances communication, and cultivates a positive working culture across departments,” he said. CQA members also contributed significantly to the achievements of G8 through their active participation. Prof. Rahim himself secured a bronze medal in the 8x50m relay, while Pn. Rosyati Zainuddin added another bronze medal in the 4x100m relay. Cik Nor Syazila Abdul Rahim showcased his talent in chess by finishing sixth, in addition to receiving the Best Team Manager Award for G8. At the same time, Pn. Nurainakmal Kamal Bahrin represented the netball squad up to the group stage, and En.Izzul Muzakkir Aris excelled in football, helping the futsal team emerge as champions and advancing to the semi-finals in football. He also earned special recognition as the Top Goal Scorer, netting a total of seven goals. G88 recorded several successes throughout the tournament, with CQA staff playing a key role in contributing to these achievements. Their involvement not only elevated the alliance’s performance but also fostered camaraderie and a sense of pride among UPM staff. CQA’s participation in SUSTAF 2025 reflects its dedication towards fostering holistic excellence — balancing professional commitment with the values of teamwork and staff well-being.
