APEL.C Book - Part 2- 2.3 : Conditions for Awarding APEL.C

The conditions for awarding APEL.C as stipulated in GGP APEL.C MQA are as follows:

  (a) The granting of credit through APEL.C is in the form of ungraded credit transfer. However, credits awarded for APEL.C will count towards the total graduation credit requirement.

  (b) The maximum percentage of credit transfer through APEL.C is 30% of the total graduation credits of a study program. This percentage is in addition to the credit transfer provision based on the Credit Transfer Policy, MQA. The maximum credit transfer allowed through APEL.C at various MQF levels is as shown in Table1.

  (c) Credits awarded through APEL.C can be automatically transferred to other programs within the same institution if the course has been awarded through APEL.C and has the same learning outcomes.

  (d) Credits awarded through APEL.C must be equivalent to the credit value of the course for which APEL.C is applied for. Partial credit awards are not permitted.

  (e) Credit awarded for a course only applies to the course applied for. The award of credit does not automatically apply to prerequisite courses for that course (if any).

  (f) Assessment for the award of credit must be carried out separately for each course. Credit awards cannot be granted in blocks or groups. For example, the awarding of learning credit based on previous experience that is equivalent to the Basic Accounting course cannot also be given to other courses in the accounting cluste.

  (g) Awarding of APEL.C credit for graduate programs is LIMITED to coursework and mixed mode programs only.

  (h) Project-based courses such as scholarly projects and dissertations cannot be awarded APEL.C.

  (i) Awarding of APEL.C credit for professional programs may be considered subject to approval/approval by the relevant professional bodyn.
