20th September 2024, Serdang - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has participated in the 2024 Malaysia Inter-University Staff Sports Tournament (SUKUM) which took place from 8th to 16th August 2024 at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). UPM successfully maintained overall champion status in the 45th SUKUM 2024 edition. Three staff members from the Centre for Quality Assurance (CQA) were involved in the tournament for netball and football game. Among them are Associate Professor Dr. Noor Syamilah Zakaria (Deputy Director of Academic Quality Assurance), Mrs. Nurainakmal Kamal Bahrin (Head of Documentation Section) and Mr. Izzul Muzakkir Aris (Administrative Assistant of Quality Audit Section). The netball team, led by Associate Professor Dr. Noor Syamilah Zakaria as Team Manager and Mrs. Nurainakmal Kamal Bahrin as a Team Captain, consisted of 12 players. The netball match took place on 11th-12th August 2024, where UPM qualified for the quarterfinals after finishing as the Runner-Up in group match, competing against the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). However, they lost to Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) with a final score of 25-28. UPM Senior Football team consists of 19 players and three management staff led by Mr. Abdul Hadi bin Abdul Rahman from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (Coach), Mr. Osman bin Asnawi (Manager) and Mr. Hariz Fazrin bin Mohd Nazri (Team Captain) each from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The football match took place on 12th-13th August 2024 but was eliminated in the group stage after competing against USM and UMS. Mr. Izzul Muzakkir played as a attacker on the left wing of the team. The participation and sportsmanship shown by the staff are a source of pride for the Responsibility Centre (PTJ) and UPM in general.
